Is there a list of required IP ranges/ports for the launcher?
So far I've identified three data centers that CCP appears to use: Highwinds Network Group RIPE Network Coordination Center Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC)
Without their CIDR (IP ranges) approved in my firewall, I wasn't getting anywhere with the launcher.

Downloading the full 7.x gigs of "download on demand", it froze at 1.54 gigs out of 7.92. (Waited 10 mins with no progress.)
Killed the launcher after it wouldn't close, waited, and restarted.
Now getting Error from launcher:
--- Unable to access remote info-file.
{ i } Remote Info-file could not be fetched. http://client.eveonline.com/patches/premium_patchinfoTQ_inc.txt Please check your internet-connection. If the problem persists, please contact Customer Support by filing a petition. ---
I'm just going to assume that CCP's overloaded right now and I'll be able to continue downloading the content later.

did that, allowed eveything in firewall and finally let through, it started downloading 7G file
That's what I eventually ended up having to do as well. This is really poor from a security standpoint.
CCP: Can we please get a complete list of IP ranges, protocols, and ports that need to be left open in order to properly update and run the game?

If that's the case, then why is access to 209.197.2.0/23 (one of Highwinds Network Group, Inc's network blocks) required for the launcher to render graphics, for the PLAY button to not be greyed out, and for the launcher to be able to launch the client?
For anyone else who is behind a firewall with a security model of "anything not expressly permitted is automatically forbidden", here is what you seem to need to allow:
A) 87.237.38.0/23 all ports, all protocols (this is CCP's IP block) B) 209.197.2.0/23 port 443, tcp protocol (Highwinds Network Group, Inc.)
There may be more, but this is working for me now.
IP block ranges are findable by using ARIN's WhoisRWS search box on their page: http://whois.arin.net/ui
In order to get the giant patch and cached data into the launcher earlier today, I gave up playing whack-a-mole with the firewall logs and rulesets, and just allowed this workstation to connect to the world on all ports/protocols until it was done with the download. I hope the next patch day doesn't force me into the same position.

Looks like I'm stuck analyzing firewall logs every time I can't get the launcher to connect, then. Alright, thanks for replying to me.

CCP Atropos wrote:CCP Bartender pointed me towards I-Blocklist which he uses with peerblocker and informed me that they have user-collated lists of IP ranges for popular products, services and companies. A quick search lists Highwinds and some ranges that might be of use, although I can't validate their veracity or accuracy I'm afraid. Edit: and the link to help: https://www.iblocklist.com/search.php?string=highwinds
Nice little site, my thanks to both you and CCP Bartender.
